“We are thrilled with the festival’s move to Spring 2017. It supports the marketing objectives of our presenting sponsors and welcomes the stunning revitalization of our film venue partner, Consolidated Theatres. The new dates also allow the Festival and its intercultural mission to serve the community more effectively during an opportune industry month,” said Patrick Gey, President of the Hawaii European Film Festival.
2015-2016 was a banner year of success for Hawaii European Cinema, in its inaugural debut as an independent festival with sold-out screenings, distinguished filmmaker panels, and the extraordinary attendance of legendary French actress Catherine Deneuve at the illustrious awards gala. HEC also announced a prestigious annual scholarship pledge exclusively for Hawaii from The Hollywood Foreign Press Association to support students in the University of Hawaii Academy for Creative Media. Hawaii’s only European Film Festival continues to thrive with community loyalty while garnering global industry acclaim.
